This semester, students from the Energy Policy class, alongside the RIT-K Energy Club and led by Adjunct Lecturer Ariana Qosaj Mustafa, stepped out of the classroom and into the field with a visit to Eco Kos in Obiliq.

Hosted by Mrs. Edona Demaj, founder of Eco Kos, students saw firsthand how Used Cooking Oil (UCO)—once an environmental threat—is now collected, processed, and exported as a key raw material for biodiesel production. 🌱♻️ In 2023 alone, Eco Kos exported over 600,000kg of UCO!

Mrs. Demaj’s journey from journalism and PR to green entrepreneurship is a story of vision and impact. From being the only woman in the company, she now leads a team of eleven—five of whom are women—and mentors students pursuing careers in sustainability.

👏 This visit perfectly reflects RIT Kosovo’s hands-on approach to learning—where knowledge meets real-world experience.
